## Why lime
- Moisture movement: lime lets water vapour pass through rather than trapping it.
- Compatibility: works with soft, historic solid-wall construction.
- Flexibility: accommodates the natural movement of an old building.
- Repairability & ageing: can be patched in place and ages gracefully over decades.

## Notes
- Cement renders and gypsum plasters trap moisture against soft historic fabric, causing damp and decay; breathable lime systems avoid this.
